This is an attempt to bring most of them under one roof. Take a look at the following Prime movies, and be sure to log them on Letterbox. Letterboxd and IMDb audiences have a wide range of tastes based on the films given the greatest scores. The film says something important about the always-at-hand possibility of a new day, starting anew and living unburdened by the past. Unable to remember his name or anything from his past life, he cannot get a job or an apartment, so he starts living on the outskirts of the city and slowly starts putting his life back on track. For those looking to become cinephiles there are many lists and many sources. Oscar-nominated The Man Without a Past comes from Finnish auteur, Aki Kaurismäki, who has infused this ostensibly bleak, Nordic tale with an understated kindheartedness sure to warm your heart against the cold, Finnish wind. Favorites: V for Vendetta (2005), The Imitation Game (2014), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), The Man Without a Past (2002). I have this weird thing about starting movies without knowing I'm going to like it.

Jonathan White’s review published on Letterboxd: After last night’s viewing of Calamari Union, which I had high hopes for but ultimately left me disappointed, I really needed a sure fire Aki to put my mood right. The titular man without a past doesn’t seem too bothered by his situation or too eager to resolve it (in the real world one visit to a police station would probably do the trick) and events often follow an unrealistic path that’s dictated by plot and Kaurismäki’s eccentricity rather than logic.
